I decided to take this idiom at a literal stance, and have a person who was told to bite their tongue, so they actually did. I also kinda wanted a darker side to this, almost Tim Burton-y haha

Animated Inanimate objects: Pomegranate Frog
This is a piece that I am so fond of, I was inspired by another artist who made dragons out of different foods, and from that I thought of a toad made from a pomegranate, and his toad lumps would be the seeds.
The piece is done on vellum paper with soft pastel pencils. I unfortunately found out very soon that the dusty pastel doesn't stay on the paper very well, so I had to be extra careful not to rub the paper.
I like the use of shading I used, I think it looks like something someone would put in their field book
Super Hero Self Portrait: Manga Style
For my super hero self portriat I decided to draw myself as a ninja. I had never tried to replicate the style of manga art and I wanted to do something new.
I'm very pleased with how this turned out, though it took a few times to get the body shape and movement perfected.
This goes down as one of my favorite pieces this year, it was one to test my concentration and patience, and the quality shows for it

Hardest Medium: Colored Pencil, Beta Fish
I was sad that I led myself into picking my least favorite medium, until I discovered vellum paper! It makes the colors blend so so so much better, because I hate how colored pencil blends on sketch paper.
This whole project surprised me with the turn out, I love the contrast between the green and white, and the shading is magnificent.

Update: Strange interior, Broken Record Head
Here's the record added, I also added cartoonistic lines that help the viewer know the record is spinning, makes it almost movie like.
While working on this, I realized the head was kinda bland, so I spread the acrylic paint on kinda thick on places that I wanted to highlight. You can see it on the next picture how the ear is outlined.

I think I need to add to this a bit, the color is boring on the outside, and acrylic paint really isn't my favorite..

Strange interior
So for my strange interior I thought it'd be cool to do someone's head open and a record spinning, I might even make it broken, like their mind is a broken record.
Here it is a decapitated head. Dark- I know, but sometimes the dark helps people think more. I've drawn on the record, now it's time to paint it.

Mythical Piece!
My mythical piece is kinda crazy, and I'm not sure that I like it. I was talking with a friend about what my assignment was for the week, and I couldn't decide on a nine tail fox, a wizard, or some gnomes, and my friend said "why not all three?" So it decided to take on the challenge.
I decided to create a wizard riding his ninetail fox attacking a group of gnomes. The piece is in oil paint, so it's taking a while.
Imaginary place assignment!
For the imaginary places assignment, I decided to create a world during its time of destruction. You can see the ocean pouring into a fiery pit. The stars that look connected are actually pieces of the sky falling down, and there's a storm on the verge, I liked making the picture look ominous.
This piece is mostly watercolor, I needed to use acrylic for the moon and white parts of the sky, and I used a charcoal pencil to connect the stars.
I like the idea of this piece, but I think I should go back and fix a few things, like the fiery pit, and the storm clouds.
